Take A Nature Walk
If you live where the weather is nice today, go outside! Take a walk and see how many signs of spring you can see. Look for spring flowers pushing their way out of the ground. Can you see any new arrivals from the spring bird migrations?
Or maybe you might want to find two kinds of any one thing, like two flowers or leaves or rocks. Compare and contrast them. Make a venn diagram.

Spring Art
If the weather is not so nice where you live, create a little spring indoors.
Our kids love the chalk pastel ebooks from Tricia at Hodgepodge. We have the Simple Start, Fall, Christmas, Olympics and Spring Chalk Pastels ebooks. We break them out every couple weeks.
The kids had fun this past week with the new Spring Pastels book. They choose to work on some shamrocks. My daughter usually stays pretty close to the tutorial, while my son makes it his own. Not sure where the red chair came from.
Sit down with your kids. Grab some paper, chalk pastels and the Spring Pastels ebook and enjoy creating spring flowers and scenes. Chalks are beautiful and forgiving. They create soft lines and images. The ebooks give simple directions that kids can follow easily and quickly make beautiful works of art.
Happy First Day Of Spring!
