Today, I want to introduce you to guest author and homeschool dad Jason Lindsey……
Tired of searching for the best K-5 grade science curriculum for your homeschooler? If so, stop searching! You already have everything you need, at home, to get your homeschooler “Hooked on Science.”
Instead of focusing on a rigorous K-5 grade science curriculum, I want to encourage you to spark a love for science through a hands-on approach. Use everyday items from around the house to teach the scientific method and basic concepts in life science, earth science, and physical science.
There are two approaches to teaching science…
- Spiral – Students are taught small portions of a specific concept in science throughout the school year. Each school year, students revisit these concepts in a detailed fashion.
- Immersion – Students are taught a specific course in science for a semester or more, allowing them to gain a detailed understanding of specific science concepts.

Students should gain a strong understanding of the scientific method through experiments. Also, students should gain a basic understanding of concepts in life science, earth science, and physical science. |

Go to http://www.hookedonscience.org for the experiment of the week. Each week I’ll show you a different experiment that might get your homeschooler “Hooked on Science.”
