Awesome Science DVD Review
This past school year was the first that I began to see the value of dvd’s, netflix and other educational video sources in our homeschool. We have all enjoyed seeing what we’ve been reading about in textbooks come alive on the screen. Documentaries and other video productions have, also, given us an insight into subjects and worlds we never even knew about.
Awesome Science DVD Series
One of our favorite DVD finds is Awesome Science. In this series, 14 year old scientist, Noah Justice, explores places like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park. This kid is so fun to watch. He is young, energetic and delivers great science facts. His excitement makes my kids even more interested in the subjects he presents.
Throughout Noah’s tours of these magnificent places, he tells of their geologic history and the science behind it. We have all seen National Geographic or similar documentaries on such natural wonders. The narrator often tells of the millions of years it took the terrain to become what it is today. However, for those who believe in the Biblical account of creation and a much younger earth, the “millions of years” can be confusing. Noah gives scientific evidence that those landscapes could have been formed much faster and not so long ago. Awesome Science shows science that falls in line with the Biblical creation accounts.
The Awesome Science DVD series brings something very unique to the table. It uses the Bible as a historical guide while presenting scientific evidence to back it up. Awesome Science delivers an educational, fact-filled program from a Biblical creationist perspective, while being highly entertaining and understandable. There is even an available study guide for those who want learn more. We have just watched the first two DVDs and can’t wait to see the others.
