I thought this Minecraft thing was just a passing fad with my kids. Fast forward four or five years. They are still obsessed! Your kids, too? Probably.

At first, I thought it was just another video game that was melting their brains. Then, I took a closer look. Minecraft is brilliant! It is fun like a video game, but teaches logic, reason, engineering, science, architecture, and more. Just don’t tell the kids that.

Over this last year, I’ve been trying to use Minecraft more in our homeschool. We’ve built historical homes and bridges. We’ve researched the types of ore used in Minecraft. My daughter has even learned Java coding to create her own Minecraft mods.

When I heard about Connected Camps and their online summer camps featuring Minecraft, I had to learn more.

Summer Camp With Minecraft

Connected Camps Summer Camp In Minecraft is an online summer program designed for kids 8-15 that uses Minecraft to get kids interested in coding and digital arts. The camp is divided into different Minecraft-based courses to fit the varying interests of the campers. Each course is moderated by counselors via safe, private servers.

During their camp experience, campers can collaborate online with other Minecraft loving kids to do things like create the “greatest Minecraft city ever built” or learn to design their own Minecraft game. Kids can choose from several week-long camps that help them become better Minecraft players and learn more in the areas of:
