How to use The Beginner’s Guide To Atoms And The Periodic Table

I get emails from readers all the time wanting recommendations about curriculum and resources. Of all the topics I get asked about, atoms seem to top the list. It seems kids are curious about atoms, but they can’t find information sources that are just right for them. Either the child is young enough that atomic theory is left out of their curriculum or atoms and the periodic table are presented in a way that is complicated or just dry. I really couldn’t find a simple, yet complete introduction to atoms to recommend. So, I created The Beginner’s Guide To Atoms And The Periodic Table.

The Beginner's Guide To Atoms And The Periodic Table

This guide is a simple, easy-to-understand lesson pack broken down into bite-sized pieces. Young elementary students should pick this up easily with a little help from an adult. Older elementary students should be able to work through this independently.

I designed this study for all types of learning styles. Students will be able to learn through reading, writing, sketching, problem-solving, and tactile activities.

After reading each section of the text, students will find notebooking pages where they can write about or sketch what they just learned. There are worksheets that not only allow students to record what they have read but actually make them think and problem solve. Each section also contains links to interesting websites for deeper study. And, what science lesson is complete without fun hands-on activities?
