An elephant can lift 770 pounds with its trunk!

The largest of all the elephant species is the African bush elephant. They can live up to 70 years.

There are 3 main species of elephants:  - African bush elephant - African forest elephant - Asian elephant

Elephants can hear with their ears, and they can also “hear” with their feet sensing the sound waves with Pacinian corpuscles in their feet.

Their  trunk is used for smelling, breathing, communication through trumpeting, drinking, and grabbing.

Newborn calves can weigh over 200 lbs and are able to walk less than 12 hours after being born.

The social hierarchy of elephants is a strictly matriarchal society in which one female has authority over a large group of females. They band together to travel and care for their young.

An elephant's trunk has 40,000 muscles!
