Careers In Food Science - The Homeschool Scientist

Is it time for your homeschooler to start thinking about a career? If they are science lovers, the career choices are endless. One growing career path that you might want to think about is food science.

One of my first jobs out of college using my science degree was as a researcher in a food processing plant. I worked in research and development and quality control. Everyday was a new challenge. Some days, we worked to improve processes. Other days, we worked on improving products or creating new products altogether. Never a dull moment. Always something new.

Food Science Career Options

On any given day I might have worked with…

  • Food Chemists
  • Food Engineers
  • Food Development Scientists
  • Food Microbiologists
  • Meat Scientists
  • Research Assistants
  • Food Safety Professionals
  • Quality Control Engineers and Technicians

All of these science professionals and more are required to process the foods we eat. It is a huge, growing field.
