Awesome Science Gifts Under $20

Do you have a science-lover in your house? Make holidays and birthdays even more special by giving them a science gift that they will appreciate, use, and maybe even laugh at.

There are lots of great science gift guides and lists out there. (Just Google it or look at Pinterest.) I wanted to create a unique gift list for many ages and interests that went beyond the new microscope or programmable robot. I, also, didn’t want a gift list that would break the bank.

Awesome Science Gifts On A Budget

So, I came up with this quirky, unique science gift list sure to please those with a geeky side. This list is a collection of educational and just plain fun gifts under $20 that the recipient will still love! This list contains affiliate links.

MERGE Cube

I am very intrigued by virtual reality and how it can be used in education. However, most resources I have seen are complicated and expensive. The MERGE Cube uses gaming and educational apps on your cell phone to allow you to hold a virtual object in your hand and interact with the object making it come to life. With MERGE, you will actually want kids to play on their phones!   Read: How To Use Virtual Reality For Homeschool

Beaker Terrarium Kit

I have a thing for terrariums. Growing plants in a glass container can be a beautiful hobby or science study. This terrarium kit really appealed to me because of the choice of glass – a beaker! What a great gift for the chemist who loves to garden.

Pocket Microscope

The pocket microscope would make a great stocking stuffer. This hand-held microscope can be put in your purse, backpack, or glove box. We are never without ours. You never know when you might find something interesting that just begs for a closer look.

Funny Science T-shirts

I love t-shirts with funny sayings and images on them. These science-themed shirts are among the funniest I have found. They crack me up. There is just something awesome about wearing a t-shirt that makes people actually have to think.

Cell Embroidery Kit

Do you have a crafty science-lover on your gift list? These biology embroidery kits are adorable.  I can see this kid being part of a cell study. What a great way to remember the parts of the cell! This Etsy shop, also, has a great selection of science-inspired art. Check them out.

Geodes

Who isn’t amazed by geodes? Seriously. They look like plain round rocks. Then, you crack them open and BAM!  Gorgeous crystals! Got someone on your list who likes rocks or sparkly things? This geode set, a sock, and a hammer would be perfect for them!

Mini Weather Station

I would love an electronic weather station, but the price tag has always kept me away. This mini weather station is perfect for those who track the weather or like to study it. It measures temperature, rainfall, total rain over a given period, wind speed, wind direction, and calculates wind chill. All for under $20!
