Who doesn’t love a trip to the beach? The sun, the sand, the salty breeze….ahhh.
This week, I’m heading to Gulf Shores, Alabama with my family for an end of summer/back to school trip. We’ve got lots of fun planned, including swimming, a dolphin cruise, an estuarium, a zoo, and a back to school s’more party on the beach!!!
I’d love to take you all with me, but since that isn’t really feasible, I’m bringing the fun to you!
Beach Party
On Thursday August 14th, the City of Gulf Shores will host a Back to School Beach Bash from 6-8pm with small bonfires on the beach, a DJ and family-friendly activities. There will, also, be all the fixings for s’mores.
If you live in the area, come on by. If not, you can join the fun online at the #GSOBsmoresummer Twitter Party from 6:30-7:30 pm CST that same night.
I will be at the Back to School Beach Bash LIVE and will host the twitter party. Join me by following me on twitter at @HSScientist . You’ll also want to follow @AlabamaBeaches, the hashtag #GSOBsmoresummer, and these great bloggers who will be partying and tweeting from home.

We don’t really have a back to school tradition, but maybe a trip to the beach needs to be on the list! Looking forward to partying with you this week!
We have gluten free cupcakes to celebrate 🙂 This year, my oldest got a “real” backpack for our co-op days so he’s all excited about his new backpack for “school” 🙂
We see a movie the weekend before going back to school and make sure we spend our last large amount of quality time and then we take school pictures.
We take “first day of school” pictures, have a special breakfast, and get new pencils! Other than that, nothing really special….maybe a trip to the beach should be a tradition!
We sleep in on Daddy’s first day back {he teaches, we homeschool}, then have a late breakfast and go to the playground. 🙂
We get together with homeschool friends at a nearby park the day after traditional students go back to school. It’s our (Not) Back to School tradition!
We go to the beach the weekend just before school starts to celebrate the end of summer!
We always go camping right before school starts!
We don’t really have any B2S Traditions, but this year we celebrated with a back-to-school pizza party!
We always go as a group to do school shopping!! It’s so much fun, oddly enough. We usually have about 7 of us that go!
